American Roulette is the ultimate game of chance! But with an understating of the odds and terminology you can turn your chance into skill!
Roulette bets fall into two main categories – inside and outside bets.
Outside Bets Payouts
Outside bets offer the best chance at a payout, as they cover half the possible outcomes. With outside bets being odds or evens, red or black, 1-18 or 19-36, a players odd of winning is 1:1.
Want an outside bet with a better payout? Place your bets on columns or dozens, which cover 12 of the numbers on the roulette wheel. Essentially giving you a 1 in 3 chance of winning, and a payout of 2:1
Examples of outside bets include:
Red or Black - This bet pays out at even odds (1:1) if the ball lands on the roulette color you choose.
Odd or Even - This bet pays out at even odds (1:1) if you correctly call the ball landing on odd or even.
Low or High - The payout will be even odds (1:1) if the ball lands on 1-18 and you’ve bet low, or if the ball lands on 19-36 and you’ve bet high.
Column - Your roulette winnings will be paid out at 2:1 if the ball lands on one of the numbers in your chosen column. The numbers on a roulette layout are organized into three columns of 12 numbers each.
Dozens - The payout will be 2:1 if you’re successful.
Inside Bets Payouts
Looking for a greater pay day? Play inside bets!
In the inside of your roulette, bet on a specific number or set of numbers. Although your chances of winning are less frequent, the payout is greater.
Examples of inside bets include:
Straight-up – This bet pays out at 35:1, on a single digit.
Split bet – This bet pays out at 17:1, on any two adjacent numbers. Place your chip on the line between the two numbers to make this wager.
Street bet – This bet pays out at 11:1, and covers three numbers. Place your bet on the line outside the three numbers in the desired row.
Corner bet – This bet pays out at 8 :1 otherwise known as a square bet or a quarter bet. It’s a bet on four numbers.
Five-number bet – This bet pays out 6:1, otherwise known as a Basket. You can only make one five-number bet, and it’s the only inside bet that offers different odds from all the others. This bet is on the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3, and you place the chip on the outside corner line between the 1 and the 0. It is known to be the worst bet on the table.
Six-number bet – this bet pays out 5:1, otherwise known as Double Street or a Line Bet. It covers two adjoining rows of numbers.
